I hate to pay Apple prices, but I look at my partner who spends a lot of money on a device and has zero issue with it. To require extra warranty for it to work for up to 2 years is dreadful customer service. You can't call a controller the best on the market, or a console the best on the market, if it develops a fault within a year. The only product I've never had issue with is my Surface RT in 2011. Their support service has gone down the drain too since the start of this generation. Surface Book treat like a 3 month old child. Xbox One X (replacement) - HDD failed within 8 monthsĪnd this is with babying my electronics. Xbox One X - Just suddenly bricked first month Xbox One controller - Stick drift after 6 months Xbox One - Disc Drive broke within 2 months I'd say it was closer to 3 months actual use. Again, I baby this controller and only use it for certain games, like Rocket League. Could nobody have checked it before they sold it?Įlite controller 1 - All right hand buttons were stiff and scraped the side of the plastic.ġ (replacement) * - Spring is dodgy and trigger clips the plastic. Surface Book 2 - Had a wonky and sticky return key upon opening. Surface Book 1 - Had a battery that fucking swelled and made the screen yellow after a year Surface 3 - Developed green pixels on the screen Every single Microsoft product I've owned has needed to be sent back for one reason or another. And before the downvotes come rolling in, this isn't just an Xbox issue. If Microsoft just made quality fucking hardware we wouldn't have to do this. So.I'm not sure what my advice is for where to buy the controller and warranty, but just know that it's not a fast process right now through MS, whereas if Best Buy has stock it could maybe be a quick exchange or refund.ġ00 hundred plus for the controller, then add extra to cover it. I thankfully then had all of my money refunded for both the controller and warranty. I was working with an amazing customer service rep who always e-mailed me updates and stuff, and finally after a month, and no progress, and him saying there's likely a shortage, I asked if I could just have credit or something cause this is going nowhere and I spent a lot of money on the controller and warranty under the assumption that my local store would be open to conduct business with and get an instant exchange. I had to send it in instead of getting an Advance Exchange, which I wasn't too happy about, and then it just sat at their repair center, not even showing it arrived. So I kept trying and finally got through to them and they began the process of honoring my warranty. At first I couldn't get them to recognize that I had a Complete warranty, and sadly the physical store was shut down and then closed down for good.
